Carlsbad Flower Fields

We went to the flower fields today. I'll have to figure out how to put up pictures to make this post worthwhile. It was a fairly good time. Most of the kids were whiny and cranky, but they seemed to settle down when the flower viewing was done and we were back on their turf at the playground they have there. They had a good time throwing sand at each other, sharing snacks, etc.

When we were getting ready to leave, I told Athena to get in her stroller. Bad mommy award went out to me then. The stroller was parked on a little hill and toppled over as she climbed in. Athena was crying, but not because she was hurt. It was because she was dirty and maybe a little scared. My loud gasp scared Oli and she was crying as much as Athena. Then the fall locked the front wheel which made pushing the stroller quite challenging. I couldn't remember how to unlock the wheel but when we got to the car I realized it wouldn't fit unless the wheel was unlocked. I called my friend with the same stroller but she didn't know. Then I dialed Chris and as it was ringing I figured it out, I was trying to turn the peg, but I just needed to pull. So, once I calmed down all was well. We made it home and I made some wacky carrot-applesauce muffins. Making muffins always makes me feel good!

has it been that long?

So, I guess I tried to start this blog back in June last year. I am going to give it another shot starting today! I realized that I am forgetting all the awesome stuff going on in my life each day and thought it would be fun to share my thoughts, stories, etc. And typing them is so much faster than the old pen and paper.
Anyway, these are a few of the stories that I'd like to not forget and have inspired me to write here. Like being at the dentist's office recently nursing my 4 week old with my almost 3 year old laying on my legs, getting shots of Novocaine, let me say, really good times. How about this weekend on our drive to Orange County. It was Friday afternoon and the traffic north is never good, especially on a Friday, and even more so with the rain. So we were totally stuck in traffic and the baby started screaming. We couldn't have even pulled off if we wanted to and if we had a found a way it would have probably added another hour to our drive. So what else was there for me to do? I climbed in the back seat and somehow wedged my butt in a space that was half my size. I even fastened my seat belt. Then I leaned in for what we call "hanging boob". It was almost impossible and I started having a panic attack thinking I couldn't make it work. But I persevered and kept inching forward until eventually we had contact. Rowan nursed contently and the rest of the drive was a breeze (at least as far as he was concerned). I was so proud of myself. There are many more stories to come, these were just a couple I had on my mind.
