Vegan cows
Yesterday Athena was making some food for her "kids". She told me they were going to have "vegan cows". I think it is so funny to see her process what it is to be vegan at age 3. I explained to her that cows are actually vegan, but how eating them wouldn't be because they are an animal and vegans don't eat animals. "I know, I know," she said, "my KIDS just want to eat the VEGAN cows". Um, ok.

It's hard to argue with 3-year-old reasoning, eh? :) Eliza wasn't even aware that some people eat animals, so I hadn't discussed it with her, but this morning for the first time, she was doing pretend play and mentioned that she was going to eat fish. I was caught off-guard and explained gently, but I don't think she understands as she brought up sharks.
